SCO Oak Tree 300 Virginia TCR
  • Fight between Impulse Racing TCR and SIMMSA Esports TCR

Very good competition in TCR field

Marcel Jochheim, Kevin Weinreich and our trail member Martijn Asschert took on the battle for the most important tree in Virginia - the SCO Oak Tree 300.
The qualification went quite well for the team, but they saw relatively early that there is no need to hide in the TCR field which was quite strong with teams like SimRC.de, CoRe SimRacing and our Italian friends in the SRC Team.
For Impulse Racing it was 10th place out of 11 teams in the qualification.

Start of the last SCO Special Event 2020

The race didn't go quite as well with temperatures around 40-45°C. P1 - P8 were able to break away relatively quickly. Our drivers, on the other hand, had to deal with WOSR IZONE Performance for the first few laps, which in the last second of the qualifying had made us P9 to nothing.
After 2-3 hours in the race without any major incidents, the temperatures dropped quite a bit and our setup got a lot better.
The fight to catch up on SIMMSA Esports started with Marcel and was continued with the other two drivers until the last stint where Martijn handed over the car to Kevin.

Final minutes and a fight with SIMMSA Esports

In the last stint we were unlucky when a M4 GT4 almost pushed Kevin off the road in Turn1, which increased the gap to SIMMSA to 7-8 seconds. At the end of the SCO Oak Tree 300 we were within 2.8 seconds of SIMMSA but the time was not enough and we finished the race in P9.
All in all the race was very instructive and we have seen where we stand against the top teams in the TCR class and will work on improving to attack again in the next events.
